I believe that there are 4 categories of hotels and 4 room types. S are good for Suites and Gold and their are 2 other types I think. One good for standard rooms and one good for Jr suite or deluxe rooms. There was a time that you could get these relatively cheaply by bidding on Charitybuzz but those days are long gone since they have implemented a minimum bid that makes them no longer the bargain that they used to be . You can usually pay an upgrade fee to use a lower level category certificate for a higher level hotel or superior room type, but it varies from hotel to hotel (or maybe from reservation rep to reservation rep).
