I used Ctrip a couple of times for domestic flights in China and never had any issues. Mind you, these were simple one way domestic routings and this was 10 years ago. So, can't attest to what its become these days. As far as I know, many of my expat friends residing in China frequently used Ctrip to book domestic as well as flights to various points in SE Asia without issue.
Ctrip are legit, but for air tickets, unlike priceline sell air tickets directly, most of ctrip airline tickets are sell by agents, some are official airlines (by ANA etc), most of them are not.......airline agent commission still exist in China, my understanding is some agents will list ticket at a small loss and jack up cancel fee bet some customer needs to cancel.......
