Had a fairly strange interaction so wanted to post here in case it’s helpful.
Was changing a 2 pax J AA award on QR KTM-DOH-NBO.
The DOH-NBO flight I wanted was showing 2 open J award seats on both AA and BA.
I called AA and the first person told me only one seat available as a business award. I tried to press and she clearly wasn’t interested in helping so I politely HUCAd.
The second person seemed more helpful off the bat. She basically said “no problem” and started processing the ticket. Then she stopped. “Oh no, there is only one seat.” I politely said I am seeing two bookable seats. She asked me to log off the app to make sure I wasn’t holding space. Still nothing.
“Hold on while I try something”
”OK, this is crazy. If I select a different KTM-DOH flight for you, then 2 seats open up on the DOH-NBO flight, bit only 1 seat is there with your first leg selected. Let me work on this.”
She spent like 20 minutes typing and made it happen. I assume this is some kind of married segment logic? Anyways, I feel lucky that I found someone willing to figure it out.
