it has changed - so definitely no promises made to remain 3X, but this was just a bummer because giftcards.com had only recently come back to the AAdvantage shopping portal a few weeks ago at 3X after being absent from it entirely from some time, and myself and a lot of others had already mentally made plans to use the 3X over the next 3 months+ as part of a strategy to hit levels of the Instant Status Pass challenge (I’ve seen it as the expected source of half or more of the points needed over 4 month challenge period to maintain or increase status…) so it throws a bit of a wrench in that plan - moral of the story = don’t make any long term (or even medium term) assumptions about what opportunities will exist and for how long!
The only question i had with this promotion is that AA awards both LPs and Bonus points, which specifically are not counted as LPs. So spending $1 will get 3 awards points but only 1 LP.
From what i could fathom, the extra points awards were not LPs but only award points.
If someone could find out that the 3x points were considered LPs, that would be helpful in answering my question,
