Being both disabled and recently widowed I made the effort to snap out of my depressed state by arranging a trip to KUL from MAN on QR. I was a very frequent flyer in the past and, whilst not that keen on Middle Eastern airlines, I had yet to fly on QR and had heard good reports..
MAN Terminal 2 had been revamped and I eventually found my way to the 1903 lounge with assistance from the MAN wheelchair pusher. The lounge was very good but I have subsequently experienced Aspire in T1 (their 1903 was closed) and it was quite dreadful. Departure was about 45 minutes late. I found the much lauded QR 'suite' cramped but the coffee was excellent - food looked good although I eat very little and do not drink alcohol on planes. Arrival at Doha was chaotic as no one took charge of my transport and, in the end , 7 or 8 'pushers' were involved. On the way back I experienced their lounge (enormous and flashy,). Being in a wheelchair I would expect to board first as is the norm everywhere (US and Doha excepted). In Doha I was pushed to the gate and then expected to walk (no air bridge) to the plane.. I could not so had to wait for a 'pusher' to be found. No real panic as the plane cannot leave without me but QR was supposed to be 'Airline of the Year'.
Landed in MAN on time and was taken all the way to the airport exit by one cheery 'pusher'.. MAN has deteriorated since my flying days (I blame Willie Walsh) but other airports/airlines can occasionally also be bad...
