I assume that you may be having a PAN number? Was your pan issued with an Indian address or an overseas address
If it was issued with an Indian address ( very common for most people of Indian origin or Indian roots ) they have been deactivating the PAN unless its was linked to an aadhar
So it's worth checking if your PAN is active if thats the case ..
This has been happening to people who have been filing non resident Indian tax returns for many years with an overseas address linked to the IT department.
So they don't even look at their own data!!!
This happend in July to many people I know
