The actual (outside) altitude is irrelevant when setting a barometric trigger. However, the danger posed by an altimeter
inside the cabin defies reasonable explanation. If the bomber has the explosive device in his possession (impossible according to TSA
) one might expect him/her to also have a simpler, more predictable trigger mechanism.
