My flight from BUD to LHR on the 5th of September in the morning was cancelled.

I checked myself into a 5 star hotel, had lunch and dinner and some time in the spa.

6th September claim submitted for compensation and duty of care expenses.

3rd of October BA replied and let me know they will be paying both in a couple of days.

All in all, reply came in less than 1 month which was better than expected.

Hotel + lunch + dinner + taxi = £201
Compensation = £220

Ticket was originally purchased with Avios + £17.50.
