The PL has Mayfair suites that are two small rooms somewhat awkwardly connected on the rear facing side of the building. Honestly not that desirable. That is the only free suite upgrade I have received in 15-20 stays. This property is famous for co-pays for better suite upgrades.
I wouldnt read too much into a lesser upgrade at a morning check in, you could have chose to wait. Just because a room is available for sale that evening doesn't mean it was ready when you arrived at 9 am.

Thanks for the insight! I had read about a few cases of getting the Mayfair Suite here and figured it was more common. As for the room upgrade, I did end up taking the Executive room and checking in later as opposed to taking the Deluxe and checking in immediately. I guess what I was trying to say in the previous post was that they had only upgraded to Deluxe when I arrived at the hotel, despite Executive rooms still being available for booking at that time. Because of that, I thought it seemed a bit petty of them to not offer the Executive and asked why it wouldn't be possible to receive Executive if that is still available as well, only after which they offered that option too. But to their credit, having any room at all available for an 8-9am check-in is commendable.
