You could have routed Brazil-USA-Mexico on AA in Business but yet decided it wasn't important enough to warrent keeping your gold alive by booking another carrier. Unfortunately BA won't entertain keeping your account at gold either and will soft drop you to silver after your anniversary date. Sorry to be harsh but there's no way to sugarcoat this one unfortunately. Silver isn't bad by any means so not a huge deal in the great scheme of things.
