How do the seat controls in latest F work?

So I'm currently sat in F on a 777, and it's the newest F with the door.

There are buttons and a dial but two of the buttons (to the right of the dial) don't seem to do anything at all, even when I turn the dial after pushing them. One button, when pushed, allows me to use the dial to turn the seat into a bed or not. The far right button makes the seat upright for landing.
All I want to do is raise the leg rest but there doesn't seem to be any way that I can do this?
I've asked an FA and he says that the two buttons next to the dial (which do absolutely nothing) are for getting the seat into position for landing.

TBH as someone who has spent a bit of their time with UX design I don't even understand what the icons on the buttons mean? There's no longer a 'seat guide' that I remember from old CW so I'm down to 'press a button and see what happens'. And nothing happens.

This does not jibe with my experience with BA F. I've flown F a bunch of times with BA, and whilst I don't remember the seat controls, I don't remember having 2 buttons that do nothing.

For what it's worth, other than this the whole BA F experience has been excellent compared to what I remember. Food is off-the-scale good and the FAs are super attentive.

So if you can tell me what the buttons to the right of the dial do, I'd be most greatful!
