It doesn't depend on the price I've paid for the night (unless I'm specifically purchasing a breakfast-inclusive rate that costs more, in which case I'd expect the breakfast to be at least as good as that supplement to the price).
It depends on what and where I've booked (and including if/what breakfast benefit my status might provide).
At the express places, I don't have high expectations, hopefully a drinkable cup of coffee, maybe some oatmeal, and enough to make a hard boiled egg sandwich, because I probably don't want the egg substance creations.
At better but not luxury places, I expect something that would be at least as good as a standard US-type breakfast plate, as well as drinkable coffee.
