There have been a number of remarks around this forum to the effect of "your spend doesn't matter to DL and/or AMEX" or "they won't miss you". And for each of us individually this is true, I get that. I know AMEX won't shed a tear that I stopped using my card and will downgrade/cancel. And I'm not doing so out of anger or to 'get back at them'. I'm simply doing so because the value i the card isn't there for me anymore.

However, if a lot of people do cancel card or move spend elsewhere, then they will care. What's the threshold for them caring? How many people are canceling/downgrading/moving spend? I have no idea. And I'm not advocating for anyone to do so, as everyone needs to make the decision that is best for them (and that answer will vary based on each person's situation). But I think some people are missing the mark when they say these card cancellations / spend pattern changes "don't matter".
