San Juan was an important station for Pan American for many years. As you mention, Pan Am was operating a number of 707 flights nonstop between several East Coast cities and SJU in 1969 with the 727-100 also being operated on some eastern U.S. - SJU flights at this time. Also at this same time, PA was operating 727-100 service between several East Coast cities and both St. Croix and St. Thomas in the USVI. A number of other Caribbean destinations as well as Caracas were also served by PA from SJU at this time. And I do know that Pan Am was operating a weekly 707 flight in 1969 with a roundtrip routing of Miami - San Juan - Lisbon.

BTW, by 1970 Pan American was operating 747-100 service into San Juan. And ten years later, one of the aircraft types operated by PA into SJU was the L-1011-500.
