Open the booking from the LH app on your phone, you will see the exact type of Economy from there. Just "Economy" in the confirmation email doesn't necessarily imply that it's a Classic fare.
I had a ticket booked with United on 016 in Y class for an intra-europe flight on LH metal (that’s 1 of 4 flights on this ticket). It shows as “Economy” with the LH booking code on LH website. In fact it shows twice because a UA operated flight on this journey is waitlisted for upgrade. However, the LH website doesn’t show I can select seat (I’m 7 days out from departure) and LH usa phone rep said first said “preferred seat selection” is chargeable for wanted 30€.
Should I expect a comp Y seat selection? Should I just call LH back?
I’m not opposed to paying if I must but there seems something not right in how LH handles UA booked flights.
