I got an email to check in for a reservation today but the name on the email was not mine. It was sent to my email address and matches a reservation which I have so I did not think twice. But when I went to check in the hotel said they have no reservation under my name for any time this week.
Dug out the reservation number and gave it to the FD who told me the name on the reservation was different from mine. The incorrect name given on my check-in email reminder matched the name the hotel showed for the reservation but still with my email address and my account number. So I showed them the reservation as it appears on the phone app, the confirmation email and the account number which belongs to me. The FD was very kind and checked me in and asked me to call Bonvoy to make sure my account is OK.
Long story short, two phone calls and no one has any explanation for what happened. Anyone else seen this before?
Bumping this thread, is there anyone at Marriott who can look into this? Any lurkers available to help? Calls to Marriott reservations numbers were unfruitful, they say they don't deal with account security, only reservations. First call gave me a different number to call to best deal with this which then gave me the first number to call as a better number.
