I had DirectTV on a recent flight and hated it. I kept on accidentally pressing the buttons on the armrest with my arm and changing the channel. The personal device entertainment showed "not available" - not sure if that was standard for flights with screens or if it was just malfunctioning.
One time I had a flight with a little clip in the seat in front of me to hold the cell phone (I want to say it was a 757 in 2019 or so). I wish they would include that in more aircraft as it really provides the best of both worlds.
