I think the point being made - and if it isn't, then I'm going to make it - is that almost everything contained in a printed newspaper appeared in the digital version the previous day, certainly by the time that the newspaper went to press. You don't miss anything by reading the digital edition.

I do understand the reluctance to leave newsprint behind. There was a time when one of my greatest small pleasures was sitting in a coffee shop on a Saturday morning with a copy of the Independent, and I was bereft when that newspaper went digital-only. But I quickly got used to reading my news on a digital device, and now cannot imagine wanting to wrestle with a newspaper, or being unable to follow the hyperlinks within a feature that take me to other, related features. I also wouldn't want to be spending the amount of money I'd need to spend in order to read the Guardian, Telegraph and Independent, as I now do, for almost nothing.
