Problems with bags weight on domestic flights

I flew CDG-SFO on December 29 and took several domestic flights between that date and now, actually SFO-LAX, LAX-PSP, PSP-LAX-LAS, all flights purchased seperately from my international tkt. Every time I checked in I was told that my suitcase was over weight and that due to new regulation I should pack in 2 different suitcases. I could thankfully prove that I flew over from CDG with UA (in F-class) and that my flightd should be considered part of the same itinerary!! It worked every time thanks to the very nice agents but I do not want to take any more chances...so I decided to fly AA on my last leg LAS-LAX... too bad for UA
