UPDATED: I just noticed we're talking about Christmas Day. AA 'puts the airline to bed' early on certain holidays, so I don't see an evening flight to FLL anymore. That's likely why you got switched to MIA. I'd just take the Uber to FLL and call it a day.
Well, yes, that is what I also thought . I just saw I made a small mistake in my info, we are arriving Dec 24 not Dec 25 but I assume that is the same situation then. No later flights anymore that day.
I am just a bit annoyed as I was able to book this flight and will now have additional cost besides arriving at least 1-2 hours later in our first night hotel near FLL
