Hi...Looking for some advice on my upcoming trip in December. I have a ticket booked from YVR-SYD(business on QF) and now I need to book a separate ticket from SYD-ADL(Economy). Couple of questions:

1) If you have two QF PNRs they should be able to check your bag through, though will still have to collect it in SYD, bring it through customs and then drop it off again.
2) You should never expect protection on two separate PNRs. You would be relying on QF goodwill for assistance if you miss your domestic flight. There is no such thing as "linking PNRs", it's merely a comment added to each that the other one exists but it doesn't really change your situation.
3) If it was me I would be leaving a big enough gap to the domestic flight that it wouldn't really matter if it was QF or VA and I could choose one or the other for other reasons. Remember that in SYD the domestic terminal is on the other side of the runways and it takes a good while to get over there.
