Does that mete out in real life? Is Volaris looser with personal item sizing? I'm not intending to bring an enormous backpack, but knowing whether it "needs to be an exact size" vs. "it can be fudged a few CM" would help with packing.
In my experience, if your personal item doesn't have wheels and isn't obviously oversized, you will be okay on Volaris. However, it really depends on who is working your flight. They can be strict, especially regarding the weight of carry-on bags on domestic flights.
