I'm flying Finnair for the first time and don't want to pay for a seat. Does anyone know how random seats are assigned on Finnair? Based on the fact that the seatmaps appear pretty empty at T-36/T-24, I think that seats are assigned in the order that passengers check in for the flight. If this is correct, are seats assigned from the front to the back of the plane, the back to the front, middle seats first, or some other method?

I'm hoping this forum can share some anecdotal information from your recent check-in experiences. Thank you!
