That does not sound like fun. Many airlines drop the ball on customer service and UA is no exception. Many here will tell you to always arrive the day before the cruise or have the cruiseline book the tickets for you as they typically come with added options.
You should request reimbursement for your expenses. Add copies of all receipts. Also, a refund of the fare for the canceled flight.
We left Honolulu on Sept 8. Cruise did not sail until Sept 10. We are aware that we should arrive at the port 1 day ahead
We did all that was required to make the sailing. The cancellations were United's doing. According to them because of weather. If that was the case, why the did the flight scheduled after ours go out while ours was canceled. They could have put the passengers on the cancelled flight out instead of those on the second flight. They did absolutely nothing to help us with any arrangements.
Air Canada had no flights either. We tried routing through Montreal and Toronto.
