They’re both great hotels (or “good” in the case of entry level Capella rooms), but are going to be 2-3x the cost of the St Regis. Meanwhile, for the same cost or less you can get the Park Hyatt, Waldorf Astoria or Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit.
Capella and Siam were both offering a 3:2 rate through FHR last time I was looking, which brought the rate down to around 13k THB, which is not far from W/A, PH, or StR.
Overall I think SGS is a better hotel than StR, but not everyone will agree with me.
