Views of London from LCY will depend on the take off pattern. If you take off to the east then you will not see much of London.
If you have a bag to check in then there is a checkin deadline at heathrow of 45mins for shorthaul .
Being in the city centre by the time you allow to get to LHR or LCY, check in ,then the flight and getting from EDI to Edinburgh city centre, there will probably not be that much difference in time
If you want/need flight credits then fly, otherwise take the train.
I would probably fly in my case ( i like the airport environment and the views)
