That’s obviously ambiguous and Käfer seems to have maximized its margin by investing much less into quality than Lufthansa had assumed and kept more money for themselves.....
We hear that there has been a post-pandemic change: more “high end leisure”, less business travel. A leisure traveller may well want more high quality food, more high quality champagne, more high quality rubber ducks... But they’re likely to be more cost-conscious because it’s probably their own money. So there’s likely to be a tension between what pax want and what they get.
This is partly why I still think the days of first class separate from business are numbered. Broadly speaking IIRC the last major boost to LH F was around the introduction of A380... Since then, it has mainly been reduced and played down. The new park bench idea seems to say “LX insist on F on every long haul a/c, and neither AF nor BA are ditching F at the moment, so we have to come up with something too”, not “We have a great new product.” So I wouldn’t be surprised to see FCT become HON or Business Plus Terminal or something, and for Käfer to carry on serving mediocre food and cheap champagne...
