Headed to BKK in a few weeks. Had a good think over Finnair's tempting price for LAX-HEL-BKK but finally decided it wasn't worth the risk of having to fly across the Evil Empire. In the admittedly unlikely event of an unplanned landing in Russia I would be very unhappy to be subjected to the attention of the 'state security organs' as I have a history with them which I suspect they would not be above 're-appraising'. Life is about making good choices. Saving a few quid is not always a good choice. ;-)
