if you note all the threads about this on FT, the theme is that people mostly know that a direct flight is a flight with a stop continuing as the same flight number. The confusion or surprises come from the 2nd order effects of this….such as inability to get on the UG list for the 2nd flight or how the flight credits post.
it’s all downside for the flyer…
