upgrades are scarce as well... seems to be no issue for PN space westbound but coming back to the US is tough unless it is close in. I've had NRT-IAH booked for months in Novebmer and there is not one single upgrade on that flight for the entire month. I am sure it will release when the date gets closer but this is definitely a new world we are living in.
What's frustrating is that you can't see it when good cash UG offers are made available unless you remove your PPs. Two weeks ago, my business associate and I were checked-in and waiting at the NH club in Haneda, when he looks at his phone and sees a $599- UG to
Polaris offer. He was just planning to stay in Y to save money, but I would've taken it. I called UA to see about me buying-up and removing my PPs and they said that they'd already sold the 3 available seats and that there were none left. I tried again with the gate agent with no luck. Needless to say, my PPs never cleared.
