I have lived in NYC for over 20 years, the location of this property is fantastic. It's right in the heart of Midtown near tons of world class restaurants and steps from central park. How is the location not special? The residences in the same building as the hotel sell for tens of millions of dollars.
Put more simply, the Thompson is across the street and gets you 75% of the way there, quality wise for like half the points.
I didn't mean that the location sucks. It doesn't. But it certainly isn't any better than the Thompson or Andaz. For the record, I don't much care for either of those properties. The Thompson is fine. Their beds are rock hard. But that's every Thompson. The Andaz is okay, too. I just have a lot of gripes about it. It's not worth the asking.
