I tasted the new Tequila in GF this afternoon. It's very pleasant - aided by a slight chilling, but it definitely isn't a brandy replacement. For me, they could chuck the Gordon's away and bring back a brandy. Oh and they could stop using Schweppes tonic. If you are going to have a gin, at least have a decent tonic. I know gin is in vogue, but to have Tanqueray and Gordons, they have a similar make up of botanicals. If you are going to have 3 different ones, then at least make sure that they re 3 very contrasting ones and have a decent tonic that doesn't overpower. A nice rhubarb gin with a ginger beer goes down well. Well with a good ginger beer...
Because of the double distillation of cognac, a tiny amount of caramel is often added to replace the lost colour from the second distillation. Come on BA, bring back the brandy.
