I would go to the first automated machine you come to, but the 1 hour rule is usually enforced. Then go to a member of staff quickly and explain the problem. If there is a queue, go straight to a staff member wearing a full uniform, not any younger staff who just have a BA badge on. The visa check can wait, that deadline is 35 minutes. I'm hoping you have at least done online check-in, as far as you can. Plead your case and be polite.
