A collegue of mine had the same problem in spring. Her JAL JGC (Sapphire) number was not recognised by the system, and shows she needs to pay luggage fees for her travel group plus lost ASR unless calling in. However, sometimes agents just reads off the screen and refuse to do anything.

Negative. Ticket could have been well ticketed (or even first leg flown) and issue still exist for the return.
