Concerning development here is that Qatar appear to be restricting availability more to their own program more than they are to others.

14th August 2024 - MEL - LHR J is available on Virgin Australia Velocity points for the standard award of 139,000 points. For those unfamiliar with the program there is no saver award below this.

But if you try and book the same flight on Qatar Avios it doesn’t even register availability, let alone at 2x Avios. So there is award space but Qatar are choosing to limit it and are restricting people with their own points currency. Feels like they’ve lured people in with the transfer bonus then have deliberately limited their redemptions.
