Some credit cards have no specific bonus categories, so by default, specific credit cards can earn more than one point per every dollar spend regardless of merchant category.

Hope you already have your award travel booked. United miles are dynamic, and can chnage in an instant.
I would have used my CSR, had I known I would be earning 1 point per dollar. I value UR more than AMEX points. Fortunately, I was able to buy the award tickets I wanted - I got 2.3 cents per mile. I purchased the miles at 1.7 cents per mile (thanks to the double mile promotion). So it was still a good deal.
