BA does not allow any advance planning for allergies. Once on board you can ask for the allergy information sheet and, depending on the crew, may be treated sympathetically in terms of getting your first choice of meal.

I have a fatal nut allergy and after declaring it, still had a packet of nuts literally thrown into my tray table. Luckily it didn't burst open

BA seem extremely concerned about appeasing those with lifestyle dietary choices but less about helping those with allergies. Surveys tend to ask if more vegan or vegetarian options should be offered - in fact my dietary choices have decreased as airlines become more "woke: and fear upsetting the snowflakes.

Most crews are great at trying to find something that suits you. But some still think it's all rather amusing and won't go out of their way to offer you anything from another class or maybe even two starters. I'm not sure if BA train their staff about how to help passengers with dietary allergies because it varies so much.

My last flight was perfect ; all the staff seemed very concerned and for the first time ever I was offered popcorn instead of nuts. A simple gesture that made me feel valued and heard.

I would either prefer to pay for my own food and be given a wider choice (ie be treated like a grown-up) or be allowed to choose my meal in advance. To not know, in advance of boarding, whether I can eat the food on board, is stressful.
