Filling a seat earlier in the day with a high profit flyer is always more profitable. Giving out GUCs the way they have to people who barely fly was one piece of the dysfunctional pie. I was inconvenienced that day and many other days related to the ridiculous amount of imo non deserving DMs and DPs. Delta fixed this and I for one and glad. The good news for the people who want to churn and play credit card roulette: there are plenty of other carriers who will entertain you. And I would venture to guess that other people who travel like me from UA and AA will switch to DL. I would if were them. Delta is trading up. And besides the biz traveler there is an entire segment of leisure travelers mostly older who have a lot of money after working a lifetime and they will pay full fare for a more comfortable seat.
