I wonder if this particular issue was random, or a function of older airframes and whenever the last time they had interior work done. Or what the fleet plan is for 20+ year old 777s and 320's, how long they'll stick around, whether they'll get spruced up.
The seats in the 772s are definitely not 22 years old. Most were replaced in the 2016-ish timeframe. Remember they used to have the 2-3-2 angle flat business class seats until then.
