Overall Please read my review of the Shanghai UrCove (
UrCove Shanghai Lujiazui Expo - Review - MASTER THREAD) since the two are very similar in most aspects. It's a business hotel that intents to compete with the new business hotels in China, namely Atour and Ji Hotels. The designs are minimalist, there's a laundry room, there's a smart home device that controls everything in the room, there's a free non-alcoholic mini bar, and there's a bidet toilet. And it tries to incorporate some sort of local identity through art.I thought it was a step-up compared to Hyatt Houses / Places (especially the ones in North America), just because they are mostly new properties. Location The location was very convenient. It was literally at exit / entrance C3 of Fengqi station, a major station that has access to lines 1 and 2, the former connecting to HGH airport. Fengqi station also has a (somewhat) local underground market with lots of food options and also above-ground food options. It's across the street from Kerry Centre, where there are lots of high-end brands, as well as just one station (a few minutes' walk) away from Longxiang Bridge station, where each of the four corners of the street is a shopping mall. There's a lot of malls. And of course, as the name states, it's but a few minutes' walk away from the eastern end of West Lake. The only little gripe I have is that there is no proper driveway for cars, so you have to walk into the bike lane for your taxi / Didi. Check In I checked in a bit later at the hotel, at around 22:00, with no problems using my foriegn passport. The hotel had two very large wooden doors at the entrance, behind the first of which there was a fridge of chilled water for delivery people and guests, which I thought was a sweet gesture. In the middle of the lobby was a Peet's Coffee. The lady at the front desk thanked me for my Hyatt loyalty and told me that there were no room upgrades available. I was also asked to pay for the entire stay upfront, like at all other UrCoves. Room I booked the Executive Deluxe King room and it was quite spacious. It had a couch and lots of room to lounge around. The toilet was also a bidet -- the same brand as the one at the UrCove in Shanghai. There was a silhouette of Hangzhou in the background, which was a nice touch. Unlike the UrCove in Shanghai, this property did not have a Dyson hair dryer. The fridge had a free bottle of coke, sprite, and two bags of cookies. Gym The gym and laundry room at this property is noticably smaller than the one in Shanghai. There were no free weights at all, but just a treadmill and a cycling machine. There are two washing machines and dryers, just like the property in Shanghai, and they are also free too! What a blessing. Dining I unfortuantely slept in and did not get to try breakfast on both of my nights during my stay. The restaurant is on the top floor of the building. If anyone does try it out, please let me know how it is!
