I recently stayed at this hotel for the first time, really enjoyed my stay and will return
Pros
+ Fantastic location, near many attractions and subway lines
+ Extremely large rooms for NY or really for any major city - my room looked to be one of the smaller ones on the floor from the map and it was still very large and comfortable
+ Extremely quiet - no issues with street noise, hallway noise, or adjacent room even with a connecting door
+ Seems recently renovated
+ Clean and well maintained
+ While I don't like resort fees anywhere, this one was at least fairly easy to get value out of, as you could redeem for $25 worth of credit at Bill's or at convenience store
+ Bill's worked really well - I had seen a lot of complaints, so I was pleasantly surprised & seems they've improved lately - I went 3 times and I was always seated quickly, received my food within 5-10 minutes of ordering, food was delivered hot and service was pleasant and quick. Burgers were good (not amazing but above average) and fries were excellent. $25 works out almost perfectly if you are alone, as it buys a sandwich + side or a sandwich + beer
+ Breakfast on weekends is buffet at Bill's open until 11 am. It has fruit, yogurt, baked goods (muffins seemed homemade / freshly baked), eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, and waffles (seemingly frozen). Includes coffee or tea and juice. Worked well - not amazing but good enough
+ Staff is good about swapping out weekend breakfast vouchers - if you don't go just turn coupon in for 750 points
+ Good shower with strong pressure and good temperature control
+ 4 pm check out was proactively offered at check in
+ Large gym with good supply of cardio and weight equipment
Cons
- Lounge is closed from Friday morning until Sunday night. I know a lot of Marriotts close their lounges on the weekends but I think it is lame when hotels don't at least keep the lounge open for water and sodas
- Bill's - while I mentioned service was very good and burgers & fries are above average, the menus is quite limited and weaker if you deviate from burgers and fries. I only eat burgers or heavily breaded chicken once a month or so at most and was getting tired of this food after 3 days. It would be tough to eat at Bill's for a 1-2 week stay and the $25 credit works less well if you have 2 people
+ Desk said I was proactively upgraded to harbor view as Titanium. I didn't push for anything more and room was very large and quiet so I was happy with it, but would be nice if they were a bit more generous with upgrades
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and think this is easily my favorite Marriott family property in NY now (I've stayed at most of them going back to SPG days). I would gladly stay again and recommend.
