Thanks. I'm thrilled to report it worked. I called AA first, made sure the upgrade was available, booked the ticket while the agent waited and got the upgrade while on the phone. I was upgraded SEA-LHR-CPH. I wasn't expecting the LHR to CPH, so that's a nice bonus. The phone agent told me its usually difficult, but when people have Expert Flyer they usually know what they are doing.
