It is the Olympics. What do you expect? Take a look at hotel prices as well. Even whore houses will get into the game and charge $700-800 per night. Then a ticket to an event. I recall wanting to attend the event for for the 100M final when Usain Bolt competed. I could only find a ticket priced at $1,500 on the other side of the stadium from the finish line. It wasn't happening.
I would suggest flying to another European city and take a train or another flight.
