Great option! If you are going after the XPs I would suggest going to NYC though (and if possible without a transfer in LHR), then you earn the "Long 2" XPs and not just "Long 1" (30XP vs. 24XP).
I once didn't think about it when I opted for Virgin and their A350-1000 - I was not so amused when I realized that it had cost me precious points...
