As the others mentioned, you shouldn't have any trouble getting into the RCC at LHR as *G. But don't feel restricted to United's lounge... *G status will get you into any of the other Star Alliance lounges with a same day *A boarding pass (i.e. you don't have to be flying with them to use their lounge). I particularly recommend SAS's lounge (even if all their massage chairs seem to be broken these days) and Singapore's.
And btw, *G also gets you premium economy seating on UA, so if you haven't already got it, it's worth phoning to get a decent seat!
