YES- U.S. CITIZENS ARE ALLOWED TO TRAVEL IN IRAN.
See the posts by Oz in the community forum. He really has some great links to sites that exlain in detail how to get a visa. This trip would also include Europe, so there might be a milage run involved too! Any suggestions are encouraged as usual.
