Totally just venting here:

Have had a trip back to Thailand booked for a few months now for February 2024. Tickets were about $16K for two of us, booked this past June using my DL Plat Amex, and were a good chunk of the MQD Waiver this year for 2024 status.

Both my husband and I just got the final approval for the dates from our jobs, and I set out today to make the hotel arrangements. Anyway, between the hotels and some other expected trip-related spend that won’t be charged to my Amex until 2024, it’s about another $16K. My brain totally forgot about the changes for a brief minute thinking, “Hey that’ll be a good chunk towards the waiver again.” Oh wait, yeah, that doesn’t exist anymore.

$16K on my DL Plat Amex next year will just be a measly 800 MQDs!

Really stings to see just how devalued things have become.
