I got lucky to have a mileage upgrade on JL 3 when I took this, the first week of September, from W to J. It seems like the best options would be to eat as much possible at the lounge/buy/bring some food for Y and W passengers. I think one of the HND - LHR services does have the arrangement where even the Y and W passengers can eat food at the Sakura lounge and then have the meal about halfway through the flight?
I wonder how far JAL is going with their “sustainability” disguised as cost-cutting measures. I would have probably gone hungry if that’s the case for only one main meal service. At least in J (and F), the anytime menu did help out to make full stomach.
