Have decided to mostly skip luxury options in torres del paine and atacama. I dont want/need a guide to go hiking so felt awasi prices could not be justified, and the explora/tierra manadatory inclusive group guided options looked like expensive tourism torture for us. Awasi atacama almost had me, but the hard product looked unimpressive for price. Someone quoted me 900 for a day of Puma tracking along the road. Seems demand has lead to region treating guests like walking ATMs. Hopefully the beautiful scenery makes up for it
Thank you for offering to report back. I’ve gone ahead and booked the Mandarin Oriental for now, as I like the look of the rooms and common areas, and they have a third night free promotion that makes it a real bargain, but I can cancel if necessary. The Singular is also interesting…
