Crowne Plaza Birmingham City Centre

What is your Priority Club status?
Diamond Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard Room for 2 nights on a gift voucher, upgraded to High Floor with corner view despite this which was appreciated

How are the rooms?
Dated but well kept and comfortable. Beds are always nice, pillows quite hard but we didn't mind.

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?
- Good breakfast spread including omlette station
- Newly renovated bar area is very nice

- Rooms are comfortable despite their age, still my favourite IHG option in the city centre
- Staff very welcoming as always. My Diamond Ambassador status was recognised on check-in despite being on a voucher booking which is rare nowadays. I took a free drinks voucher as breakfast was included in the rate and I wanted to tyr out the new bar area which was under construction during our last visit.

- Location is very good for visiting the city - very close walking distance to New Street station & Mailbox (which has easy access to Q-Park, Canals and Brindley Place) . There is also a little known elevator just on the left side of the building, this takes you up to a courtyard which leads straight to Library/Broad Street above without having to walk up the ramp so very handy.

Bad

- lifts are still being renovated and only one is in use
- Rooms need updating
- ACs in particular can be old/fairly loud (beats the ex-IHG Indigo inside the Cube though!)

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Used a voucher so didn't pay cash/points, hotel rates can really vary but can find some good rates at the start of the week.
We usually stay at least once a year when passing through Birmingham so will likely return.
